What All Causes Poor Posture?
Poor posture can have a negative effect on the musculoskeletal system. There are several factors or causes that can attribute to poor posture. It is important that you know about these factors..

Injury and muscle guarding
Whenever you injure yourself, the muscles that surround the injured area tend to guard the affected area. This is the body's natural response to any kind of injury and it is important to keep the injured area stable and safe from further damage. These muscles that guard the affected area create an imbalance along with the normal working muscles. This results in poor body posture.

Health disorders
There are several diseases or health disorders that can affect the bones and muscles. Poor bones and muscles are bound to lead to poor postures.

Malnutrition
This is one of the most important causes of poor posture. Malnutrition or deficiency of certain nutrients in the body can result in weakened bones and wasting of muscles. This in turn leads to a poor posture.

Habit
When you incur a roadblock on your way, you modify your route to overcome that roadblock. The same is with your body. Your body too needs to complete an internal movement. However, there are several obstacles such as weakness, tension, changes in bones etc that lie ahead of the same. The body modifies its movements and chooses less efficient postures to overcome these obstacles. Eventually, this becomes a habit and the body adapts to poor postures.

Muscle tension and weakness
The muscles in the body are meant to hold the body upright and strong. When these muscles are tensed or weak due to some reason, the posture deteriorates.

Stress
You may not realize but high levels of stress in the body can affect your posture too. When you are stressed out, your body is not able to breathe well. As a result, the body grabs a poor posture.

Heredity
Poor posture could also be a result of heredity. If either or both parents have a poor posture, chances are that they may pass the same to their children as well.

Improper shoes
Shoes affect the posture of an individual more than anything else. Wearing shoes that are worn out can lead to poor posture. These days, there is a new trend of extreme heels. Such shoes too can affect the posture of an individual.

Try to check the controllable causes so that you can regain a good posture again.
