Kidney Back Pain

If you look at a chart of human body you would recognize the two kidneys by its bean shape lying in the back. These are our body’s filter. To maintain the water and electrolyte balance in the body, they filter the blood content of salt and water in the body. They remove the body waste through urine.

The eruption of kidney pain has its origin in some infection to the organ. Acute Pyelonephritis or in lay man’s language kidney infection is one reason the other cause being Renal Colic or Kidney Stone. The stone may be composed of calcium, phosphate or oxalate.

The pain due to stone is unbearable. It is felt every two minutes and may last from twenty minutes to an hour.

The sensation of back pain when kidney is afflicted can be attributed to the location of the organ in the body. Kidneys are situated in the upper back region of the body, on the side of the spine a little above the hips. The inception of back pain is from the infected kidneys. It is attributed to the muscles of the back or of the spine.

Once infected kidney can throb with pain but the patient reads the body symptoms as those of simple back pain. The patient can understand the origin of the pain by his own activities. It would help him to give a more specific history to the doctor.

Kidney back pain once originated is continuous and piercing. The reason why it can be pin-pointed is because kidney pain radiates. You may feel it while bending or picking an object in the middle of the back. That is why it is misleading.

A doctor on consultation will give treatment depending on the size and location of the stone in the body till such time the de-stabilizing kidney back pain has to borne with courage.
