Some of the main causes of upper back pain are: * Muscular irritations or improper movement of joints are the most common causes of upper back pain. * Disc injuries in the upper back. * Excessive or no exercise. * Sitting or standing in a wrong posture. * Pain: The pain could be sudden or chronic. Chronic pain is experienced for a very long time (say 5 or 6 months). The pain may be felt constantly or at a regular interval. It may stay in the same area or move to other parts of the body. This pain is either dull or a sharp one. * Weakness: Person suffering from upper back pain may experience sudden weakness which might make it difficult for him/her to perform everyday activities properly.
