| Depression And Chronic Back Pain |
|
Chronic back pain is the result of slip disk or muscular strains. The slip disk is the result of bad posture assumed while sitting for long periods. The long sitting sessions in such postures can be due to two reasons- either it’s your job or you are depressed. In states of depression, the person broods and sits for long hours. The posture assumed is usually that of bending the back and resting the head on the palm of your hands. If this continues for more than 6 months you gradually develop signs of chronic back pain. The muscles of the spinal cord are affected due to the wrong posture of spine. It can often result in wounded and/or excessively strained muscles. We therefore see that depression and chronic back pain are interrelated. Again the depression can also be the result of the later. This is because a person suffering from chronic back pain often feels low and depressed as is movements become restricted. It hampers one's movement and blocks our senses of pleasure. All one is aware of is the pain in one's back. As a result, the person gradually slips into depression and that in turn cause the back pain to increase. It is therefore advisable that if you suffer from back pain then have a positive attitude. If anybody else has a back pain then give him/her the required moral support. |
