Cervical cancer has become a menace with women. In fact, it accounts for the second most cancer to affect women, and it has been estimated that about 1 in every 4 women in America have chances to contract the disease. These statistics are not unfounded and about 300,000 people across the world have been found to have been killed by the cancer.

Cervical cancer was recently in the news again, for the invention of the cervical cancer vaccine, Gardasil, the only possible and effective, and full-proof vaccine available in the market, today. It is reported that the vaccine developed by the US pharmaceutical company, Merck and Co., will announce the commencement of regular sales within a short span of time. Moreover, the good news is that the vaccine has been proved to be an effective pathogen against the two most dreadful strains of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). These are found to be type 16 and type 18, which have been found to be the most prominent causes of cervical cancer. Now you have the US Food and Drug Administration as its water mark and which has given it a green signal. The company has been granting patenting license. The cervical cancer vaccine has been found to be relatively cheap with a predicted price-tag of about 60 pounds.
In fact, another cervical cancer vaccine is on the lines, by the name of Cervarix, which is being manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline. It is predicted to be released around the same time as the Gardasil.
