Every person experiences back pain at some
point in his/her lifetime. Back pain is the second most common cause of
missed workdays due to illness and it is the most common cause of
disability. Most of the times, back pain goes away itself over the time
but in some cases it may sustain to lead to some complicated conditions.
So, it is important to understand the type and nature of your pain. Pain
is like a message sent along the nerves to tell the brain that something
is damaging the body. Then your brain sends message to the muscles or
organs to take action, for eg- it tells your hand to get away from whats
burning it.
Thus, it is essential to know every
aspect of your back pain including the reason for it, whether it is
being accompanied by a burning or throbbing sensation, which part is
exactly being affected by it and more such information for correct
diagnosis. You also need to have an understanding of its types, causes,
and symptoms. If you are suffering from acute pain, it can be cured by
using certain home remedies over it. But, if your pain persists for more
than 12 weeks than you are surely suffering from severe chronic back
pain.
This chronic pain is really a dangerous one, if not
diagnosed and treated properly and timely can result in disability and
even death. Treatment of chronic pain is different from that of acute
one as chronic pain does not respond to treatments like over-the-counter
painkillers and physiotherapy alone, instead one has to consult the
doctor or physician for its treatment.
Your back pain may be caused due to strained muscles, injured
bones, ligaments and joints. But, these causes should be identified by
your doctor through various diagnostic tests using various mediums like
X-rays, MRI and CT scans.
The next important
thing is that you should be aware about proper body posture for
preventing back pain as poor posture like sitting in an awkward position
or standing for prolonged time may result in extreme pain. It is very
important for you to know about your pain in detail so that you are able
to explain your problem correctly to your doctor.
