The lumbar portion of the spine is the area just above your buttocks. It’s the lower most part of the spine that joins the skeletal structures of the legs. This is the most susceptible area of herniated disk or bulging disk. The lumbar spine plays a very important role in supporting the balance and movement of the body while working, walking, lifting, kneeling, or even sitting. Lumbar disc protrusion is a disorder of the lumbar spine where one or two discs bulge out of the vertebrae of the spine. The spine has vertebrae joints that have discs inserted which are also called cushions.

When the disc or the cushions bulge out the bundle of spinal nerves in the joints, the nerves get pinched. The injury to the nerves and the muscles attached causes the back pain, tingling, numbness, and weakness. If there any kind of bulging is detected, the doctor confirms lumbar disc protrusion.
