Symptoms of Spinal Stenosis
Spinal Stenosis is a disease that compresses and narrows the spinal cord and nerves in the spinal column. It is usually caused by spinal degeneration which may be on account of aging. Other reasons which may cause this condition are tumor, osteoporosis or spinal disc herniation. In a lot of cases of this disease, there are usually no symptoms. The symptoms may take time to be manifested.

The patient may suffer from pain, numbness or weakness in the back, neck, arms or legs. There might also be cramping in the legs. In this disease, a patient may suffer from pain while performing various daily activities such as while standing up. Severe symptoms include urinary incontinence, bladder pain, urinary tract infection and other symptoms related to the urinary tract. If there are any such symptoms, then the patient is advised to visit a doctor.

The most affected part in this disease is the lower part of the patient's body. And for this very reason most of the symptoms are visible in that area. Our mind uses pain to indicate to us that something is wrong with the body. The body and the mind work in co-relation. Different pains at different locations may be indicative of underlying conditions and disease.

A spinal stenosis patient may also show bowel related problems. The patient may have fecal incontinence, bowel incontinence, diarrhea,  constipation or bowel ischemia. The patient also suffers from Sciatica which is a painful condition in which the patient suffers from lower back pain. Actually the Sciatic is a nerve and it is the main nerve that connects the spine to the legs and plays a vital role in the movement of the legs. The irritation in this nerve causes the pain.

One other parts of the body  that can be  affected and shows symptoms of this disease are the  shoulders and surrounding area. The patient is  likely to feel shoulder pain and show symptoms like weak shoulder, shoulder rashes, itching, shoulder bruising, stiff shoulder, numb shoulder etc. the foot disorders that a patient shows include foot pain, foot ulcer, foot paresthesia, foot numbness foot odor and other foot related problems.

The body has an inbuilt mechanism to protect us from disease. In case we suffer from lower back pain, or any of the above symptoms, we should consult a doctor. The doctor will prescribe medication and indicate if the symptoms are indicative of Spinal Stenosis.
