This grows in number and size as we approach and study the age group of 75 yrs and above. There it shows an increase of about 75%. However, what is scaring for doctors nowadays is the increase in hypertension amongst children. They find it hard to believe that children are exposed to this deadly disease, which may prove to be futile in the long-run.

But, then you have a host of medicines and drugs available today to combat the hypertension malice. You could take your pick from

a) Nicardipine: a dosage suggested of about 1-3mcg/kg/min IV infusion.

b) Labetalol: A dosage of anything between 0.2-1 mg/kg/min IV infusion and 40 mg of the same dosage.

c) Sodium Nitroprusside: 0.53-10 mcg/kg/min IV infusion will be the dosage.

The above drugs are exclusively meant for starters. You may have to grade one notch up, if the above medications aren’t working. Care to note that Sublingual Nifedipine is no longer in production because it is reported that it causes hypotension deaths in the adult population. The above is not to be taken without prescription, if the patient is between 1-17 years of age that is basically, a child and can only be prescribed to the above medicines by a certified doctor. Even if the case is for neonatal doses, the re-commendation has to be taken from a doctor. You may also consult the online portal on medicines, eMedicine for the dosage and the list of medicines.
