Yoga for Scoliosis
Scoliosis is a condition that has a tendency to progress with age. This condition of abnormal curvature of the spine is more profound among females. There are cases when the curvature of the spine increases beyond 70 degrees, giving a disfigured shape to the back. Only in the extreme cases of scoliosis surgery is carried out. This is done when it has been found that the spine is taking a curvature of more than 30 to 40 degrees. But, before surgery it is imperative to try out yoga for scoliosis. This is more of a slow-healing process aimed at strengthening and curing the scoliosis-effected spine.

Yoga for scoliosis can help tighten those muscles which have become weak due to the wrong or asymmetrical posture. Doing yoga for scoliosis will not give you instant results. It is a form of disciplined exercise that needs to be mastered to a certain extent to get the required results. Some of the different types of yoga for scoliosis include breathing and stretching techniques. A breathing exercise called Ujjayi is one common yogic cure for scoliosis. This is very effective as it teaches you to how to breathe into the side of lungs or ribs where oxygen cannot travel easily.

This method helps to increase the concentration level and proper circulation to all pinched or compressed areas of the body. People sometimes have lateral curves. To prevent it you should do yoga to strengthen your abdomen and legs. Try to remain in the four original postures to strengthen your spine and also by doing the standing postures in accordance with yoga. To re-center the force of gravity in the body and strengthen the spinal vertebrae, inverted postures of yoga are recommended.
