Sciatica pain could be in the form of a leg pain. The
pain takes its origin in the lower part of our body and extends to the
hips. Then it spreads to the knees and foot and this is the reason this
pain is generally identified as leg pain. But its not correct, as leg
pain and sciatica pain are both different .But when we call it sciatica
leg pain, it is the sciatica pain but which spreads to the leg.
Sciatica is generally a nerve in our body which is in fact the largest
one in our body. The range of pain can differ from a single tingling
feeling to a one which becomes unbearable. In severe cases, it is like
an electric shock.
The symptoms of sciatica leg pain are quite similar in nature. You
could have difficulty in bending the knee or in walking. There could be
pain while coughing or sneezing .If you experience any of these, you
might be suffering from sciatica leg pain.
There are some limited treatment options available.
The first treatment is self treatment. A rest for sometime can cure the
pain but be careful, as prolonged rest can worsen your condition. Also,
you can try hot and cold ice packs alternatively. Stretching exercises
without twisting or bending any muscle can help you a lot. You can also
take the help of a good physical trainer. Over-the-counter drugs like
aspirin, tylenol, acetaminophen and ibuprofen are commonly available to
alleviate the pain.
