Sciatica Pain Relief Methods
Sciatica is related to the pinching of one nerve, rather than two nerves. These are amongst the largest nerves in our body. Sciatica pain is generally referred to the pain that takes its origin in the lower back and spreads to the knees and foot. The pain can range from a certain tingling feeling to an unbearable one. Causes of sciatica pain are mainly related to muscle imbalances. But some people think it to be a result of daily wear and tear of the body. Also, overweight people, those who wear high heels, and those people who like to sleep on cozy and soft mattresses are more prone to back-related problems.

The first thing that can be done for sciatica relief is ice and hot packs. You can use either of them according to your needs, for around 15 to 20 minutes up to four times a day. Sciatica pain relief can also be obtained by opting for over-the -counter drugs such as ibuprofen, aspirin, tylenol and acetaminophen. Sciatica relief can be obtained by light form of exercise. But do not jerk or twist anything, as this might aggravate the situation. You can also take the help of a good physical trainer. The last and the most reliable method for sciatica pain relief are steroids and surgery. Almost in around 80% of the cases, the pain is relieved without surgery. This treatment should be done only after consultation from a doctor. There are other treatments like acupuncture, regular exercise and self-treatment like rest, stretching and yoga.
